Noam Chomsky (Penguin Modern Masters)

Noam Chomsky - John Lyons, Frank Kermode Worth a read, especially if you can get it second-hand for $1. Looks like there is at least a third edition now, which I imagine will fill in a lot more detail and development. It is very brief, and therefore a quick read though technical in parts. I thought Chomsky a significant enough person to read this although I have no linguistics background. Lyons does touch on some reasons why Chomsky is important even outside of his academic field.
