The Art of Preaching Old Testament Narrative

The Art of Preaching Old Testament Narrative - Steven D. Mathewson This is useful and interesting. Easy to read, as well. It combines a few elements: exegesis, character and plot, analysing structure, how to put together a sermon, using notes (or not), first person teaching, etc. One area it could be stronger is linking old testament narrative to the whole Bible picture - especially the goal and centre of the Bible, the message of Jesus Christ. Though not as bad as some books, there are still times when OT events are taken directly to us, instead of going via Jesus. (For example, using Abraham and Lot in Genesis 13 as an example of godly conflict management.)
